Humla’s Tanke Valley: A treasure trove of beauty (photos)

Humla. Sometimes steep slopes, sometimes small hills. Sometimes snow peaks visible as far as the eye can see. Rivers carrying snow echo like musical melodies, and herds of livestock grazing in the grasslands. The flat fields covered with colorful flowers look like a carpet. Whoever looks at the view from this geography, his mind immediately becomes happy. It seems that a piece of heaven has fallen here.

It is impossible to describe the Takke Valley in Chankheli Rural Municipality-5. This valley itself looks like the handiwork of a skilled painter.

The fields here change their appearance according to the season. They are black in winter and colorful in the rainy season. The flowers that bloom profusely make the green fields look beautiful.

With the 5200-meter-high Gorakh Himalayas in the background, the Tanke Valley welcomes domestic and foreign tourists who come every year. This valley is a wonderful destination for tourists who want to enjoy nature.

It is still not enough to call Karnali a haven of deprivation, poverty, sorrow, and backwardness. Nomads reach Karnali, take pictures of children playing in the courtyard, and return.

Analysts and researchers come to Karnali, and return after measuring the extent of hunger. ‘Even journalists who come to Karnali do not provide accurate information, they only work to straighten out their own problems,’ says Viyale Tamang, a local of Chankheli Rural Municipality-5, ‘Karnali has not only diseases, but also herbs that cure them. Food that satisfies hunger grows here. There is immense potential for tourism in Karnali. No one reveals this reality.’

According to locals, herbs such as jatamasi, gucci mushroom, padamachal, panchaul, white sugar, atis, kutki, sarpagandha and others are found in the fields and forests of Karnali.

Animals and livestock have also added to the beauty of Tanke Valley. Domestic and foreign tourists who come here are attracted by the lakes, waterfalls, rivers and picturesque views. The real paradise Tanke Valley is overshadowed by the lack of publicity. Locals complain that it has not been noticed by the Karnali province and the union as well as the local government.

Experts from Chankheli Rural Municipality-5 complain that despite spending lakhs of rupees every year, the rural municipality has not shown interest in promoting tourism. Locals say that if the local government can promote Tanke Valley, it can become a strong internal resource for Chankheli Rural Municipality.
