Tensions in the Middle East: Iran’s counterattack after Israeli attack

Kathmandu. Iran has launched a missile attack on Israel. Less than 24 hours after Israel launched a missile attack, Iran launched a missile attack in retaliation.

At least three people were killed and dozens injured in the attack, Al Jazeera reported. International media reported that one person was killed in the Iranian attack in Tel Aviv, Israel, and two in central Israel on Saturday morning.

Emergency sirens sounded in Jerusalem and other areas of Israel after the Iranian attack.

Smoke billows from the targeted area can be seen in videos released by the media. In response to Israel’s attack targeting nuclear facilities, Iran launched more than 100 missiles on Saturday morning. Iran has named the attack ‘True Promise Three’.

Tensions have risen again in the Middle East. It is reported that some high-ranking military officials, including Major General Hossein Salami, the head of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, were killed in the Israeli attack on Friday.

Israel also reportedly damaged Iranian nuclear facilities. The Israeli strike, dubbed Operation Rising Lion, killed at least 78 civilians and injured more than 320, according to Iranian officials.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei confirmed the deaths of a senior military officer, a military commander and five nuclear scientists after the attack.

Khamenei called the attack a crime and warned Israel that it would pay the price.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said military action would continue as long as necessary. After the Israeli attack, US President Donald Trump said that he had given Iran a 60-day ultimatum to make a deal, but they ignored it.

Posting on his own social media account, Truth Social, Trump said, “Two months ago I gave Iran a 60-day ultimatum to make a deal. They should have done it then. Today is the 61st day. I told them what to do, but they couldn’t get there. Now maybe they have a second chance.’

The US has been expressing strong dissatisfaction with Iran’s nuclear weapons development program and uranium enrichment work and has been pressuring it to stop. However, Iran has rejected the agreement proposal, saying that the nuclear program is for the defense of its country.

Iran has responded that the door to talks and agreements with the US is now closed after the Israeli attack. Iran has also warned the US, UK and France not to further support Israel in its attack.

The US has asked Iran not to target its military bases in Iraq and other regions in retaliation.
