Rasuwagadhi border closed from Friday


Kathmandu: Rasuwagadhi, the international trade point with China, has been closed since Friday. China has closed the border due to Chinese New Year.According to Rasuwa Customs Office Information Officer Bharatraj Adhikari, the border crossing has been closed from Friday to January 20th. Chinese New Year begins next Sunday. Lately, 14 Chinese trailers have been importing materials from the border every day.

Every 15 days Nepali materials are also exported to the Chinese market. In one month, 39 containers of goods have been exported from Nepal to China. According to the Rasuwa Customs Office, 39 containers of goods worth 6 million went to China in one month.Rasuwagadhi crossing was closed from 25 January 2076 to 22 June 2077 due to the Corona epidemic. Ready-made, electronic, materials for hydropower projects, telecom materials and fruits are being imported from China.

Materials such as bamboo bundles, wooden tables, amriso pulp and other materials are exported to China from this point. More than 250 vehicles used to travel through the checkpoint, which has been officially operational since 2071.

After China announced it as an international border, the traffic of traders, businessmen and vehicles was increasing at the border. To reach Kerung in China from Rasuwagadhi crossing, a distance of 24 km has to be covered.
