Expert team in Kathmandu to study feasibility of Nepal-China railway


A team of experts from China has arrived in Nepal to study and survey the feasibility of the Nepal-China railway. The group of experts was welcomed by the Acting Ambassador of the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, Wang Chin.During the visit of former foreign minister Narayan Khadka to China, China announced that it would study the feasibility of the railway project within a year.

It was also said that China will bear the expenses of this study.

Welcoming the team of experts, the embassy explained it as the implementation of the agreement reached between the top leadership of the two countries and a concrete step to transform Nepal from landlocked to a landlocked nation. China will develop this project under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). This 170 km long railway will connect Kerung in southern Tibet with Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal.
